An Alien is here!

Hello Dear Students!
Let me congratulate you again on your work with the newsletter.
Our blog prompt for this week is the following:
A friendly creature visits you from another planet. You do not know each other’s language, but you are eager to show him around the planet Earth. Think about what you would show the alien about life on Earth.
Things of nature?
Human-made things?
Make a list on paper of five things you would like to show to the alien. Write a paragraph or two about them.

See you in class  (and remember the midterm exam!)

Regards,
Prof. Eva

The 21st Century: Technology... Technology... Technology!

Hello Dear Students,
As we are living in a century that has been revolutionized by technology and new machines. There are some machines and gadgets that have made life easier and more fun. Some machines we could not imagine living without. Write a paragraph about a machine that you cannot live without.   Follow the structure for paragraph development:  Topic Sentence + supporting sentences+ concluding sentence.

See you in Class!

To blog or not to blog...

Yesterday, it came to my mind that maybe the blog is causing too much trouble.  People do not have access to internet, or they are not web literate enough to deal with these types of tools.  So, I was thinking of ending this blog, and looking for another non-technical way of writing journals. Right now, I am pondering:  To use blogger or not.
I would like to receive feedback.  Should we continue or should we find another way to do this?  Please, let me know.
In order to make an informed decision.  I want you to read this tutorial (click on the link).  There is also a blog that discusses the benefits and pitfalls of using blogs.
I will make my decision next class, so please let me know what do you think of this tool.

Have a great week (and keep working in your newsletter article)

Who or what has had a strong influence in your life?

Hello Again!
My apologies for posting the topic today.  This week we are going to be a little bit more personal.  I would like you to write about someone or something that has had a big influence in your life.  You need to give reasons why this person/situation is/was so important for you.
Try to apply what we learned in class regarding the paragraph (remember the oreo, and the hamburger).  You are expected to write 1-2 paragraphs.

If you have any question just let me know.

Have a great week!

Imaginary trip

Hello Dear Students,
As I promised I am posting the new journal topic today.    You have to answer the following question: If you could take a trip anywhere in the world where would it be and why?   You have from 250-500 words to answer the prompt.

Good luck!

What a surprise! Journal #1

Hello Guys!
It was so good to see you again.  It was really a surprise that you were not able to experience real pre-writing.  I want you to read this information, and watch this presentation.

After that, post a summary of five lines of what you saw, using your own words.  Write any questions that you still may have.
